St Andrews

Some places are simply where a company happens to be. St Andrews isn't one of them. It is the reason Kartel exists, the reason our watches look and feel the way they do, and the reason a Kartel is never only a watch. This is our story — and, really, it's the town's.

The town that shapes what it makes

St Andrews gave the world the game of golf. Its links, its grey stone and its North Sea light have a way of getting into whatever is made here. Old Tom Morris was born in these streets in 1821 and went on to shape the Home of Golf itself — founding the Open, remaking the Old Course, building the modern game. He was living proof of a simple idea: that where a thing is made becomes part of what it is. A century and a half later, in the same town, we set out to prove it again — not with a golf course, but with a watch.

Ten years at the bench

Every Kartel is designed in Scotland and drawn from the place we call home — classic shapes, honest materials, made to be worn for years rather than seasons. And in our St Andrews studio, our signature dials are painted by hand and individually numbered, each one signed by the maker. No two are ever the same. It is a small, deliberate kind of luxury: the mark of a watch made by someone, somewhere real.

Build your own

The best way to own a piece of St Andrews is to make one. Come into our store, sit at the bench, and build your watch by hand — your case, your dial, your strap, your engraving — then leave with it numbered, boxed and certified. Thousands arrive each year for the golf and the town. They leave with something no pro shop can sell: a watch they built, in the place they'll never forget.

A piece of St Andrews

From hand-painted originals to everyday classics, every Kartel carries something of the place that made it. So whether you found us on a street in St Andrews or from the other side of the world, you leave with the same thing — a piece of the Home of Golf, made to wear wherever you go.
